Planed reclaimed oak beams

Planed Oak Beams from Antique Wood. At Historisch Hout, we transform old, antique beams into beautiful planed oak beams full of character. For this product, we use only genuinely aged oak — naturally air-dried all the way to the core. This slow drying process results in a stable type of wood, perfectly suited for applications such as mantels, table legs, or other furniture and interior design projects.

Planing these antique beams brings out their authentic features: old nail holes, weathering, and natural color variations that give the wood a unique, historical appearance. Each beam tells its own story — a tangible piece of reclaimed history.

“Before the wood is planed, we carefully remove all old nails. The beams are then sawn and planed on all four sides to ensure they are clean, straight, and dimensionally stable. If desired, we can also supply the beams with a fine-sawn finish for a slightly rougher, more rustic appearance.

Please note: In planed reclaimed oak, traces of historic woodworm and sections of sapwood are not uncommon. These characteristics are part of the charm of antique oak, which has often been used for decades in old wooden structures throughout the Balkan region.
